Grid expansion progressing at great speed

The expansion of the German power grid is continuing to pick up speed. According to the latest data collected by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, four times as many kilometres of new grid were approved in 2023 compared with 2021. The figures are expected to continue to rise in 2024.

Certification package for electricity generation and storage facilities completed (in German)

The comprehensive overall package for the revision of the certification procedure includes a revised version of the Ordinance on proof of electrical engineering characteristics (NELEV) and a new Ordinance on requirements for electrical installations (EAAV). A mandatory register for certificates for units and components, which can be accessed online, forms the basis for digital processes in the grid connection procedure. Find out more

Online advisory tool on hot-water consumption (in German)

This updated online tool allows consumers to check their hot-water consumption. Consumption data is used to calculate a household average and point out potential for cutting down on consumption. This allows consumers to better understand their energy consumption. Find out more

An English translation of the System Stability Roadmap is available

The Federal Government adopted the System Stability Roadmap on 6 December 2023. Setting out the path towards a secure and robust operation of the future power supply system with 100% renewable energy sources, it is a key instrument in the transformation of the electricity system as part of the energy transition.
