How can we master the heat transition?

Over half of Germany’s final energy consumption is used to generate heat and cold. In the 8th Energy Research Programme, researchers are working on the heat transition mission. Several of them discuss how this can be done in the video linked below.

The energy transition of the heating sector is still progressing too slowly. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is thus intensively funding energy research, especially under Mission Heat Transition 2045, which is part of its 8th Energy Research Programme. Researchers are developing urgently needed technologies and preparing these for widespread use. At the Berlin Energietage conference, Sonja Witkowski of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT emphasised the importance of this mission for the heat transition. Dr Tobias Reiners from LEG EnergieServicePlus presented the Future-iQ project, which is concentrated on achieving CO2 neutrality in existing buildings.
