What the press say

This month in ‘What the press say’: How companies will benefit from the lower electricity tax, what types of heating systems are being installed in Germany, and what share of the global electricity mix is covered by renewables.

The Federal Government intends to cut the price of electricity to reduce the burden on energy-intensive companies. The Tagesschau news programme reports on this. Amongst other things, the electricity tax is to be significantly reduced for SMEs and industry in the manufacturing sector.

faz.net, 09.11.2023: “One heating system in three is more than 20 years old” (German only)

A lot of heating systems in Germany are likely to be replaced in the next few years. This is shown by a new study. The German Association of Energy and Water Industries is also noting an underlying trend, as reported by the FAZ: gas and oil are on the way down, heat pumps and district heating on the way up.

pv magazine, 24.10.2023: “International Energy Agency: Renewables to make up nearly half of the global electricity mix in 2030” (German only)

By the end of this decade, photovoltaics will deliver more energy than the entire electricity sector of the U.S., according to a report by pv magazine which analyses IEA figures. There will be a rapid expansion in electric mobility and also in the decarbonisation of the heat supply.
