How can a sustainable hydrogen economy be created?

Germany wants to empower its citizens to live and do business in a climate-neutral way by 2045. In this video, experts explain how the ‘Hydrogen Mission’ under the 8th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Economic Affairs’ Ministry is helping us to achieve this goal.

Innovative technologies for the production and utilisation of green hydrogen and its derivatives are essential for the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy in Germany. It is equally important to develop the necessary infrastructure and to support the development of a competitive hydrogen market.

By way of a practical example, it can be seen how companies are using hydrogen technologies to make their production processes climate-neutral while coping with various challenges in the process. Dr Anne Giese from the GWI (Gas and Heat Institute) in Essen emphasises that proving the suitability of hydrogen technologies for industrial use is crucial to achieving greenhouse gas neutrality in Germany.
